Acer buergerianum
'Argyo Weeping'
Argyo Weeping Trident Maple
A maple with T-shaped leaves and bright red fall foliage. Trident Maples are seen frequently as bonsai, but I would not recommend this cultivar for that use. It is a vigorous grower and sends out long flexible shoots in youth so be ready to restake your tree multiple times in the first year or so. If left unstaked, the branches will wander about on the ground. Limbs are very flexible and can be formed into shapes very easily or trained on a frame. Full sun to medium shade. Zone 6-8. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

Acer japonicum

Green Cascade Fullmoon Maple
‘Green Cascade’ is a beautiful weeping form of Acer japonicum or the Fullmoon Maple. This variety has rich green leaves that are deeply divided giving it a ‘lacy’ appearance. In Autumn, they turn a showy orange, yellow and gold. Our plants also flower heavily each year, adding to its appeal. It is a vigorous selection reaching 8-10' with age. Full sun to moderate shade. Introduced by (Art) Wright Nursery, Canby, Oregon in 1973. Content in zones 5-8. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

Acer palmatum dissectum
'Emerald Lace'
Emerald Lace Laceleaf Japanese Maple
'Emerald Lace', named by Del Loucks of Del’s Japanese Maple Nursery, is the result of a chance seedling found by David Sabo of Charlotte, North Carolina. This cascading, dark green dissectum form is quite unusual in that the fall color is burgundy, unlike other green dissectums which are generally shades of yellow-orange. It's best attribute; however, is the very delicate, lacy foliage which holds up extremely well in full sun.. Vigorous grower to 10' with age. Zone 5-9. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

Acer palmatum dissectum
'Ever Red'
Ever Red Laceleaf Japanese Maple
‘Ever Red’ is a selection which offers an unusual characteristic in the spring as the new leaves emerge; they are covered with fine silvery pubescence and give the opening buds a grayish, blue tint. This form maintains its deep red color well into the summer. It is also sometimes listed as A. palmatum dissectum ‘Dissectum Nigrum’ which is actually the original, legitimate name. Older plants may reach 10-12' with age. Zone 6-8. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

Acer palmatum dissectum
'Filigree'
Filigree Variegated Laceleaf Japanese Maple
‘Filigree’ is one of the few variegated laceleaf maples. It has a light green, nearly chartreuse leaf with deeper green and gold variegation. This selection appears to glow. As the leaves mature, the variegation deepens. It was purchased as a chance seedling and named by Joel Spingarn of Baldwin, New York. It has the typical cascading habit of most dissectums. Zones 6-8. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

Acer palmatum dissectum
'Garnet'
Garnet Laceleaf Japanese Maple
‘Garnet’ is considered by many to be the most vigorous of the red leaf dissectums. The rich red-orange color and cascading tendency makes this form quite a specimen in the landscape. The leaves are slightly larger, and coarser than other dissectums. It is an old form, originating in the Netherlands. It grows to 10'-12’ and a comparable spread with age. Zones 6-9. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

This new, quite vigorous form has large, finely dissected green leaves. They emerge tinged in orange-red and mature a deep green. It is quite different in that the fall colors are reddish-orange rather than the typical gold-yellow of most of the green leaf forms. With age, it may reach 8-10’ in the landscape. Will perform well in zones 5-8. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

Acer palmatum dissectum
'Red Filigree Lace'
Red Filigree Lace Laceleaf Japanese Maple
Red Filigree Lace has, by far, the most finely cut, delicate foliage of all the Japanese Maples. Despite its very delicate appearance, we find the deep red foliage holds up quite well under high heat and humidity. It is a remarkably tough plant, but tough to propagate because of its delicate stems and a slow grower. It was found as a chance seedling by William Curtis of Sherwood, Oregon and was eventually acquired and distributed by Iseli Nursery in Boring, Oregon. It has a mounding habit, perhaps reaching 6-8’ with age. Full sun for best color; although it will do fine in light to moderate shade. Quite adaptable in zones 6-8, or perhaps 9. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

Acer palmatum dissectum
'Roseo Marginata Dissectum'
Roseo Marginata Laceleaf Japanese Maple
This is a unique maple for its spring foliage. The new leaves emerge with a reddish-orange tint, somewhat bronze. The effect is quite pleasing. As the leaves mature they become a medium green. It should not to be confused with the misnomer A. palmatum 'Roseo Marginata' or more accurately A. p. 'Higasayama’ which is quite different. It has the habit typical of many of the pendulous maples, and will most likely reach 8-10’ with age. Will do well in zones 6-9. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

Acer palmatum dissectum
'Tamukeyama'
Tamukeyama Laceleaf Japanese Maple
Tamukeyama is a strongly cascading selection which holds up very well under high heat and humidity. It is generally considered to be the most heat tolerant of the red laceleaf dissectums; and the best choice for the warmer climates of zones 7-9. The new foliage is deep crimson red changing to dark purple-red. Bright scarlet fall coloration. A very hardy plant reaching 10-12' with age. Zones 5-9. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings

Acer palmatum dissectum
'Waterfall'
Waterfall Laceleaf Japanese Maple
This is one of my favorite selections because it has beautiful, fresh green color and such delicate leaves that they create a lot of movement with a litte breeze. Waterfall is quite similar to 'Viridis' and 'kiri nishiki', but has a slightly larger leaf. This vigorous selection, like 'Viridis', has brilliant yellow and gold color in the fall, with occasional orange-red tones. This cultivar took a big hit this past spring during the late freeze, but did not die back completely. We'll be monitoring it this summer. Grows 8-10' with age. Zone 6-9. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

This is an outstanding selection of Japanese maple reaching 6-8' with 8-10' spread. This form is one of the few pendulous maples with palmate leaves typical of most of the upright Acer palmatums. The new leaves emerge reddish-pink and mature to a bright green. They turn a rich yellow in autumn. Full sun to medium shade. Zone 6-8. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.

‘Omurayama’ is an unusual selection with medium green leaves and divided palmate leaves, as opposed to dissected leaves. As the plant ages and matures, it develops an open, cascading canopy. The fall colors are a brilliant, bright red and orange. It can reach 20' height with a 15' spread. Full sun or moderate shade. Zones 5-9. Grafted on Acer palmatum seedlings.

Acer palmatum
'Ryusen'
Ryusen Japanese Maple
'Ryusen' has a leaf style and color similar to Acer palmatum 'Jiro shidare', but it's more vigorous and a much stronger weeper, sending out long, slender shoots in youth. It also has gorgeous orange-red fall leaf color as seen in the picture. This form is also one of the few pendulous maples with palmate leaves. Discovered at Koboyashi Maple Nursery in Japan, it has only recently entered the United States and is still very hard to find in the trade. Do not confuse it with 'Ryusei'. Full sun to medium shade. Zone 6-8. Grafted on A. palmatum seedlings.
